Abstract: The strengths of state of New Mexico include its technical community, its geography, and its diverse cultural resources. Nevertheless, the state ranks at the bottom of most economic indicators. Over the past few years, many groups both inside and outside the University have embarked on efforts to improve the economic situation in New Mexico by building on our unique combination of strengths. The ARTSLab is UNM's contribution to the state's ambitious media industries strategic plan. The ARTSLab will involve almost all UNM's schools and colleges in efforts ranging from research to development to creation of new academic programs. Computer Science has a key role to play in this effort in ways that span the spectrum of our discipline. In this talk, I will introduce the elements of the ARTSLab, our educational and industrial collaborators, and our projects involving the multiprojector domed system at the LodeStar Astronomy Center.
