Biography
Beatriz Palacios Abad is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science at The University of New Mexico. Her research lies at the intersection of networking, policy, and human-centered computing, with a current focus in measuring and characterizing Internet access and quality of coverage in underserved communities––particularly in rural and Tribal areas in the United States. Her goal is to support community organizing and self-advocacy efforts in the pursuit of digital inclusion. Her most recent work received a Best Paper Award and an Impact Recognition at CSCW 2024. Beatriz received a PhD in Computer Science from the School of Interactive Computing at Georgia Tech in 2025. She is also an alumna of the Computer Science and the Interdisciplinary Film and Digital Media (IFDM) undergraduate programs at the University of New Mexico.
